Clayton L. Thompson Obituary
Belfast, Maine - Clayton L. Thompson, 97, went to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on June 28, 2022. He was born in Montville, Maine, on March 29, 1925, to Linwood and Alma Thompson.
He married the love of his life, Ruth (Fowler) Thompson in 1949, and together they raised 3 sons, Mark, Dennis, and Barry, on the farm. Clayton and Ruth came to know the Lord as their Saviour in 1950 and were members of the Knox Ridge Baptist Church.
Losing his father at 8 years old, he learned a profound work ethic helping to provide for his Mom and sisters. World War II beckoned, and he joined the Army in 1944. Clayton's childhood dream was to be a farmer. When he returned from the Army in 1948, he bought a farm on Knox Ridge where he raised chickens.
Clayton was a loving and faithful son, husband of 72 years, father of three sons, grandfather of eight, and great-grandfather of thirteen. He was deeply loved by all his family and will always be remembered as a man of great integrity.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on July 15, 2022, at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast. Memories and condolences may be shared at ripostafh.com.
