Mapleton, Maine - Charlotte H. Howe passed away Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the age of 90. She was born December 22, 1935, in Ashland, ME, the daughter of Wayne and Dorothy (West) Robinson.

She attended Garfield Plt. Grade School and Ashland Community High School. She married C. Dean Rafford on April 4, 1953. Together they raised 5 children, Dorothy, Darlene, A. Jean, Allan (Lisa), and Deane (Buz) (Kim). She canned carrots, string beans, and tomatoes, made apple jelly, and strawberry and raspberry jam. Her birthday cakes and date squares were popular with everyone. She worked at U of MPI Co. Operative extension, Potato Services, Simplot and Tatermeal. She married the love of her life, Tom Howe, November 27, 1989.

Charlotte is survived by her children, Dorothy, Darlene, Jean, and Allan (Lisa); her sisters, Carol (Milton) Ouellette and Virginia (Terry) Overlock; grandchildren, Chris and Ben Rafford, Daniel and Venessa Rafford, great-granddaughters, Alyssa Trombley (Cole) Staples and Anna Trombley (Jonah); great-great-granddaughters, Chandler and Reese Staples. She also leaves behind nieces and nephews, Dan Robinson, Kim Robinson Martin, Sonny (Kris) Ouellette, Melinda (Mike) Gordon, Terry (Nancy) Overlock, Dan Libby, Sylvia Morrill, Ann Greenwood, Harriet Gyalpo, Mike (Leanna) McCausland, Marjorie (Steve) George, Truman McCausland, Kitty Ceppi, James Vallides, Debbi Vallides, Scott Obermier; a sister-in-law, Myra Robinson; and nephews, Terry (Nancy) Overlock and Christopher Overlock. She was predeceased by C. Deane Rafford; Tom Howe; her son, Deane (Buz) Rafford; grandson, Jeremy Rafford; granddaughter, Deanna Rafford Trombley; her parents, Wayne and Dorothy Robinson; her brother, Danny, at the age of 15; brothers, Richard (Sue) Robinson and Donn Robinson; and nephews, Bart Robinson, Scott McCausland, and Pat and Mike Libby.

Interment will take place this spring at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle. Donations may be made to Central Aroostook Humane Society, 210 Cross St., Presque Isle, ME 04769.
