Ellsworth, Maine - Charles Everett Mulhern Jr. died November 7, 2024, at an Ellsworth hospital. He was born in Ellsworth on March 10, 1944, the son of Charles E. and Annie Elizabeth Mulhern.

Charlie graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1964. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea and Vietnam and received three purple hearts. He then returned home and worked for Merrill Furniture and Dave Gould Ford. He was a member of the Ellsworth Elks Club, Ellsworth Fire Department, V.F.W. and American Legion. Charlie enjoyed playing softball with the Ellsworth league at DeMeyer's Field, belonged to the bowling league and loved going to Record Hops and dancing with Karen.

He is survived by his wife, Karen of 47 years; sister, Joyce Brien and partner, Larry Beal, of Ellsworth; brother, William Mulhern and wife, Debbie, of Surry; sister-in-law, Trudy Clarke of Hancock; brother-in-law, Tommy Jordan and Dawn of Ellsworth; and several nieces, nephews and cousin. He was predeceased by sister, Marilyn Sincyr; brother, Richard Mulhern; niece, Elizabeth Tupper; and nephews, Michael and Mark Sincyr.

Contributions in Charlie's memory may be made to the SPCA of Hancock County, 141 Bar Harbor Rd., Trenton, ME 04605 or Sarah's House, 346 Main Rd., Holden, ME 04429. Visiting hours will be held November 24, 2024, from 1-2 p.m. with a memorial service at 2 p.m. at Ellsworth Elks Club, 317 High St., Ellsworth. Please dress casually.
