Bangor - Charles L. "Skip" Harris, Jr. died May 18, 2019 at a local hospital following a brief illness. He is now home with our heavenly Father, finally free of all pain.
Skip was born February 23, 1948 in Bangor the son of Charles L. and Mildred (Curran) Harris.
He graduated from Hermon High School in 1966, and continued his education at the University of Maine, majoring in political science and journalism. In 1970 he chose to join his father and began a career with H.E. Sargent Corp. from which he retired.
Skip will be remembered as a kind, compassionate, and devoted man, who shared his love of life not only with family, but with many friends. He also shared a wonderful sense of humor which has given us lots of happy memories. He spent many hours reading and keeping his thoughts in journals. Skip was avid about politics and sports. He was a life-long New York Yankees fan in a family dedicated to the Red Sox. He will be sadly missed in many ways, but most of all for his loving nature.
Skip is survived by his daughter, Melinda "Mindy" Kane and her husband Michael and their daughter, Emily Paige who filled his heart with such love; and his son, Jacob "Jake" Harris all of Brewer; sisters, Charlene H. Kimball of Hampden, Diane T. Harris of Bangor; brothers, William J. Harris and his wife, Joyce of Mesa AZ, Thomas B. Harris and his wife Debbie of South Portland; nephews, William J. Harris, Jr. and his wife Tara and their son Brandon all of Lunenburg, MA.; and Craig Harris of Brewer; one very special cousin, Edna "Skip" Coeyman and her husband Louis; one uncle Lloyd "Bud" Harris all of Glen Burnie, MD.
A Funeral Mass will be held 12:00 Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John's Catholic Church, York St., Bangor, followed by the Rite of Committal at Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Ohio St.
