Belfast, Maine - Carroll A. 'Tony' Saunders of Belfast and formerly of Dover-Foxcroft, passed away Feb. 15, 2018, 11 days short of his 84th birthday.

The "Chief," as he was known in Belfast, over his working life managed several milk dairies, sold Prudential Insurance for 20 years and then made drawers at Moosehead Furniture, all in Dover-Foxcroft. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. When his children were growing up, he attended all their activities, especially enjoying their sporting events.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jane (Macy) Saunders of Belfast, his four children, Toni (Randy) Mailloux of Belfast, Stephen (Elaine) Saunders of Sebec, Kevin (Laurie) Saunders of Old Saybrook, Conn. and Sue Sturtevant of South Portland, 10 grandchildren, Dan and Traci Mailloux of Belfast, Steve Saunders of Dover-Foxcroft, Mike Saunders of New Gloucester, Brian Saunders of Bradford, Molly Dercolo of Lynn, Mass., Patrick Saunders of Old Saybrook, Conn., Trapper Clark of Belgrade, Stacy Clark of Somers, Conn., and Nate Whittier of Concord, Mass., and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Belfast.

A memorial service will be held March 17 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 95 High St., Belfast.
