Carolyn was ahead of her time as career woman and entrepreneur. Her many careers included English teacher, owner of Peter's Family Fashions in Millinocket Maine, insurance, banking and real estate. Carolyn was an Instructor at Maine State Academy of Hair Design in Brewer and Waterville, and owner of 18 High Street Salon Ellsworth Maine. She then opened her decorating business after finishing courses with a 97 average. She was also a bed and breakfast owner. In her words, "We built a home on the water and opened a bed and breakfast in Maine. We soon were attracting people from all over the world and received a 5 star rating. Such good memories of the people that stayed with us. We retired after 9 really fun years. Not being able to sit still, I started making cards and fell in love again with a new way to be productive, opening an Etsy store 'Our Cottage by the Sea' that she operated from 2014 to 2019.
A memorial service will be held in celebration of Carolyn's life, in the spring at the Hancock residence.
