LISBON FALLS - LISBON FALLS - Bruce Hill McKay, 77, of 5 Earle St., Lisbon Falls, died Thursday, June 5, 2008, at Mid Coast Hospital, Brunswick, after a brief illness. He was born June 10, 1930, in Howland, a son to the late William Hill and Louise (Smart) McKay. Bruce proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1953. He was on the USS Baltimore and served two tours in the Mediterranean. After leaving the service, he married the love of his life, Dorothy "Dot" Ferrence, July 5, 1954. Bruce's work career began at Worumbo Manufacturing Co., Lisbon Falls. He moved on to industrial sales, working for TEK Bearing, Auburn and Webster Engineering Corp., and retired from Brunswick Housing Authority as a maintenance supervisor. He was a dedicated volunteer firefighter for more than 45 years for the town of Lisbon Falls, holding many positions, including fire chief. Bruce also enjoyed tinkering on small engines in his spare time. He leaves a son, Bruce H. McKay II and his companion, Roxanne Ricker, of Lisbon Falls; two daughters, Kathleen M. Clavette and her husband, Philip, of Lisbon Falls and Julie A. Guay and her companion, Darin "Ely" Spooner of Lisbon Falls; six grandchildren, Brittany and Sierra Guay, Ian and Nathan Clavette, Kayla and Katrina McKay; a brother, John J. McKay of Durham; a sister, Mrs. Michael Yenco of West Bowdoin; many nieces, nephews; and his Boston terrier, Molly. He was predeceased by a son-in-law, Jeff A. Guay; and a sister, Ilda "Madeline" Maguire. Visitation for Bruce will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Crosman Funeral Home, 40 Main St., Lisbon Falls, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday.
