Bangor, Maine - Bernice M. (Marquis) Newcomb passed away on April 12, 2025, surround by family. She was born in Corinth, ME, on Jan. 5, 1927, the daughter of Dennis and Catherine Marquis.
Bernice "Bunny" worked in many of the shoe factories around the area, and in her later years worked with her sister at Sylvia's vending at the U.S. Postal Distribution Center in Hampden. Bunny loved to go bowling at Bangor Brewer Bowling Lanes and go clogging with Sylvia and friends at special events. Bunny and Sylvia would go out for lunch often with girls from the federal building. She also loved to play bingo with all her friends at Miller Square. Bunny married Erwin B. Newcomb in 1969.
Bernice is survived by a son, Paul and wife, Cathy "Cat" Gallant, in Bangor; stepdaughter, Brenda and husband, James Rowe, of Florida; grandson, Heath Simpson; stepdaughter, Janice Campbell of Bangor; and grandchildren, Missy McCann of Carmel, Terry and husband, Matt, of Charleston, and Donny Blanchard of Glenburn. She will also be missed by many more great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Bunny was predeceased by her husband; parents; a daughter, Brenda Sue Gallant Simpson; her sisters, Anita Fortier, Thelma "Teddy" Cote, and Sylvia Gallant; and brothers, Gerald, Gilbert, Dennis, and Robert Marquis. A special thanks to Missy and Terry.
As per her request, there will be no service or showing. Relatives and friends may pay their last respects at Gracelawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 980 Turner St., Auburn, ME.
