Bangor and Mapleton, Maine - Bernard "Bernie" A. Estey Sr., 88, Loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend died on March 6, 2020. Born September 28, 1931, in Bangor Maine. He was born the son of late Owen T Estey and Mildred V. (Corneil) Estey.

Predeceased by his wife Evelyn (Sylvester) Estey in 2001, whom he married on August 29, 1959, in St. Stephens, New Brunswick.

Bernie was founder and co-owner of Tater Meal Inc. in Presque Isle Maine with his younger brothers Charles and Owen from 1969 to his retirement in 1996, prior to that they farmed hogs together in the Bangor area. He was a natural born engineer, building several homes over the years and was always willing to help anyone in need.

Bernie is survived by his sibling Owen Estey and his wife Joan; his children, Belinda Hoffses and her husband Richard "Bud", Terri Estey-Rucevice and her husband Thomas, Nancy Estey and Bernard Jr. and his fiancé Stacy Moir; grandchildren, John Hoffses and his wife June, Devin Embelton partner Sarah Crosby; Kara McLellan and husband Travis, Joshua Looman, Makaylee Estey, and Brooke Estey; step grandchildren, Erik Rucevice and wife Airika and Shane Rucevice and fiancé Taylor Sheldon; great grandchildren, Sophie Hoffses, Luke Hoffses, and Evelyn Mclellan; step great-grandchildren Leiken Rucevice and Carter Rucevice.

He was predeceased by his parents and siblings Irving, Richard, Raymond, Charles Estey and his sister Lillian Davis.

Bernie loved spending time with his family, to them he was "Jack of all trades, master of all". His "off the cuff" sense of humor will never be forgotten, his quick wit and ability to bring laughter to everyone he met was priceless.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 14, 2020, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor, with Pastor Ronald Doughty, of Fort Fairfield, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor, immediately following the service. Spring interment will be in the family plot at South Side Cemetery, Chapman.
