Benjamin Franklin Lufkin Obituary

Brooks, Maine - Benjamin Franklin Lufkin, born September 2, 1939, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2025, at the age of 85.

Ben lived life richly and eagerly anticipated each new endeavor. He married his sweetheart, Carolyn (Wiggin), on September 17, 1958, while they were both still teenagers. Through all of life's trials and triumphs, Ben and Carolyn faithfully clung to each other, until, after sixty-six years of marriage, Ben went to Heaven. Early in their marriage, Ben worked on various farms, then went to work for Webber Oil as a truck driver. Eventually, Ben bought a dairy and chicken farm in Brooks, Maine. Lufkin Farms was his pride and joy for seventeen years. After he sold the farm, Ben founded a trucking business. Ben's Trucking moved lumber up and down the east coast, often with Carolyn at his side. Later on, Ben was a successful truck salesman at Freightliner of Maine. Throughout his lifetime, Ben was active in the Brooks Booster Club and was also a member of the Harvest Valley Snowmobile Club. As a Brooks town selectman, Ben was instrumental in the establishment of a new fire house. During retirement, Ben's favorite activities included camping, fishing, and playing cards and games with his family. He was a gifted communicator who could talk endlessly about a variety of topics.

Ben is survived by his wife, Carolyn, and their children, Dale, Dean and his wife, Karen, Dennis and his wife, Pam, and Susan and her husband, Tarek. Ben and Carolyn have eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Ben is also survived by his brother, Linwood and his wife, Mabel; and by his sister, Mary and her husband, Paul Griffin. Ben was predeceased by a baby girl in 1960; and by his parents, Harland and Jean (Withee) Lufkin.
