Newport, Maine - Belva Elaine (Perkins) Howes, 88, passed away August 7, 2024, with her loving family by her side in Pittsfield. She was born on November 22, 1935, in Exeter, Maine, the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Freese) Perkins.

She graduated from Corinna Union Academy in 1954. She married Roger Howes in 1955 and they celebrated 50 years of marriage before his passing in 2005. Belva worked at Snowflake Canning and later at the Corinna school lunch program for 28 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and nana, always putting her family first. She enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping, doing puzzles, and cooking. She loved watching the Red Sox and Boston Bruins games and always enjoyed her adventures with her sister, Beryl and her best friend, Avis. She will be missed for her famous potato salad, homemade stuffing, and popcorn balls during the holidays.

She is survived by her two daughters: Cindy Norris and husband, Stanley, of Plymouth, and Janice Creighton and husband, Blain, of Plymouth; four grandchildren: Tricia and Kevin Bubar of Plymouth, Jamie Trask of Raleigh, NC, Ashley and Chris Souther of Windham, and Ryan Creighton and Sabrina Tatseos of Sidney; three great-grandchildren: Ethan and Seth Bubar of Plymouth, and Eli Souther of Windham; brother, Charles Perkins and wife, Clara, of Exeter; special nieces and nephews; and several friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Roger; three sisters: Barbara Herring, Beatrice Doody, and Beryl Gray.
