Bradley, Maine - The oldest living citizen of Bradley, ME, Beatrice (Sykes) Wentworth died at her home on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, after a short illness. Beatrice "Bea" was born in Providence, RI, in early October 1930, to Brooke and Doris Sykes.
While she majored in home economics, she always liked to joke her real major was to find a husband - and she did. While at university, she met a young man named Charles "Chuck" Wentworth and married him in February 1953. Chuck and Bea were married for 55 years before he preceded her in death in July 2008. In 2022 the town of Bradley recognized her longevity as the oldest citizen of the town by awarding her the Historic Boston Post Cane.
The Wentworth family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice at Home for her outstanding home care in the last year of her life. In the end, she wanted nothing more than to die at home, and it was only Sue's, her son Jonah's and Gentiva's care that made her wish possible.
She is survived by her son, Mark and daughter-in-law, Deborah; daughter, Sue; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She will be united with her husband, the love of her life, where they will be interred together at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Bangor in the spring.
