Arthur Washington Obituary

Beverly Hills, MI, Michigan - Arthur Washington of Knoxville, TN, and Beverly Hills, MI, passed away on June 4, 2025, at Beaumont Hospice in Royal Oak, MI, at the age of 82.

Born in Sanford, ME, on June 29, 1942, his family moved to East Millinocket, ME, where he graduated from Schenck High School. "Artie" then joined the Maine Air National Guard, and after 6 months transferred to active duty in the U.S. Navy, spending his career in the Submarine Service, serving aboard numerous nuclear-powered submarines. He retired in 1980 as an E-9, MMCM(SS). He and his wife, Jane, relocated to Knoxville, TN, in 1988, where Jane passed away in 1991. Artie resided in Knoxville until 2024, until moving to his stepson's house in Beverly Hills, MI. He entered residence care at St. Anne's Mead Memory Care facility in June of 2024.

Artie is survived by his stepson, Larry "Mickey" (Karen) Jones; his grandchildren, Matthew and Samantha; and great-grandchildren, Amelia, Alexandra, Jackson, Miles and Eleanor. He is also survived by his brothers, Wayne of Sarasota, FL, David, Steve and wife, Laurie, of Waterville, ME. He was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Frances of East Millinocket, ME; and brother, Richard of Ayer, MA.

Artie requested there be no memorial or funeral service held in his name, preferring a private burial at sea. He requests anyone who wishes to do so may donate to a Veterans support group of their choice in his memory. Share a memory at SullivanFuneralDirectors.com.
