Lincoln, Maine - Arthur Chesley, 76, of Lincoln passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, with his family by his side. Arthur was born on November 16, 1948, in Woodville to William and Frances (Delano) Chesley.

He grew up in Woodville and graduated from Schenck High School in 1967. He went to work at Great Northern Paper in East Millinocket right after high school where he worked for 43 years. He married Sally Nelson, the love of his life, in April 1968. Together for 57 years, they made their home and raised two sons in Lincoln. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He spent as much time with his sons and grandchildren as he could, including several trips to Alabama and having his grandchildren stay with him in Maine for the summers. He loved going to China Lake to relax and enjoy good times with family and friends. He really liked the good food made by his daughter-in-law, the boat rides, the great-grandchildren and the new barn. He also had a large family of siblings, nieces, nephews and in-laws. They were always close, and his family and friends meant the world to him. He always shared his good memories and stories of the mill and the folks that he worked with. He worked hard and that was a big part of his life. He was forced to retire due to health issues and not by choice. He loved riding his Harley and was able to spend 2 weeks riding in the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains. He also loved listening to music, dancing and would go to the local music jams as much as possible. He will be remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor, as well as his strength and willingness to live, which was amazing and inspiring. He touched a lot of lives and will be deeply missed by all.

He was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Gail (Tudy) Fleming; and his brothers, Orin (Bubby) Chesley, Albert Chesley, and Clifton Chesley. He leaves behind his wife, Sally; his sons, Jeffrey Chesley of Florence, Alabama, and Brent Chesley and wife, Cathy, of China, Maine; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Chesley and Matthew Chesley; his stepgrandchildren, Aaron Young and Kelley Young; his great-grandchildren, Alexander Young and Laney Young; his brother, Cary Chesley (Linda); his sister, Amy Lee (Bill); his in-laws, Howard Nelson (Gale), John Nelson, Patricia Hart, and Richard Willard (Kelli); as well as several nieces, nephews, and close friends.

A graveside memorial service will be held at Lincoln Cemetery next spring.
