Armand S. Andrle

Brewer - Dr. Armand S. Andrle was born in Buffalo NY, August 25, 1926, the eldest son of Armand F. and Kathleen H. (Stevens) Andrle.
Armand graduated high school from St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute, Buffalo in 1944 and from the University of Buffalo School of Dentistry in 1948. Armand and Gloria were married in 1950 and moved to Maine soon after. Dr. Andrle operated a general dentistry practice in Brewer until his retirement in 1996.

They spent many enjoyable days on Branch Lake in Ellsworth, as well as their ski chalet in Carrabassett Valley. Armand was an avid outdoorsman, continuing to ski into his 80's.
He had a passion for music, played violin with his friends in a weekly soirée, and sang with the St. Joseph's church choir as well as the New Renaissance Singers. He spoke fluent German, attending the Stammtisch group in Bangor.
He is predeceased by wife Gloria Tiebor Andrle; brother Robert; eldest son Richard and granddaughter Lindsay A. Corro. Armand leaves behind children Thomas and fiancée Candace Fontaine of Carrabassett Valley, Kathleen Andrle and husband Paul Gamache of Nashua, NH, Ellen Andrle of Blue Hill, Rosemary and husband Lee Corro of Dedham, Jeanne and husband Chuck Fuller of Boothbay, Louisa Hess and Anne Marie Andrle of Buxton; grandchildren Katelyn, Christina, and Eric Andrle, Elise Schellhase, Zachary Corro, Samuel and Mary Fuller, Aurora and Andrea Hess; great-grandchildren Ethan and William Schellhase, and Heidi and Claire Fuller; brother Fred; and sister Virginia Forster.

Both Armand and Gloria were kind of like second parents, offering "guidance from time to time. They got Tom and I to go to church during the crazy 70's. Even though I am not Catholic I was not about to argue with Mrs. Andrle. Dr Andrle was a master woodsman. He used to chuckle at my foolish ways on our many woods outings. Truly inspirational. God will bless them both.

Armand was a true gentleman and a great father. Quick to teach any and all he met, and patient too. He had the ability to defuse "drama" and always "to the point" in his approach to life. Peace.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all, Tom, Kathy, Ellen, Rosie, Jeanne, Louisa, and Anne Marie. We grew up together across the street until the family moved to a bigger house which was not far his practice. Your dad was our dentist but was my godparent too. Our family had fond memories skiing with you all at Sugarloaf and hanging out at the camp afterwards. Spending time together with our parents and all, we will have these memories. Your dad was a great man and will live forever in your hearts.

Our deepest sympathy, Beth & Janice

Tom, Kathy, Ellen, Rosie, (sorry, Rosemary), Jeanne, Louisa and Anne Marie, and all your families, my heart goes out to all of you.
I have so many fond memories of times my family spent with yours, skiing, canoeing and hanging out at our various camps and houses,
I was in awe of your father and how calm he seemed whether we were on the slopes, on rivers or even how calm he made me feel when I was in his dental chair (which I was a lot). The only time I remember any ire was when he and my father argued about how to load a canoe to go through rapids or something about the dogs and bird hunting. I enjoyed listening to him and many of you play.
I cherish the times I spent with you all an
...d regret I will be out of State for his services and funeral.
Take care and God Bless. May you have peace.
Love to you all, Kimmy
