Ann J. Flack Obituary

Searsport, Maine - Ann J. Flack, 80, passed away peacefully at home on March 4, 2020. She was born in England on June 21, 1939.

When she was seven, the family moved to Cape Town, South Africa, where she spent the rest of her childhood before setting off on her world adventures. Ann traveled extensively and worked in many different capacities, from picking apples in New Zealand to working in an art gallery in New York City. She was most proud of her work at Columbia University and in the Economic Department of Harvard University where she worked nearly 20 years.

Ann loved her home in Searsport, and spent countless hours gardening there. She loved antiques, was a talented cook and had a keen mind, always willing to engage in a discussion of current events of politics. Ann was an active member and volunteer of the Friends of Sears Island.

Ann is survived by her partner of 42 years, Rodney Long; her brother, Alan Flack of Cape Town, South Africa; one niece, Karen Woodard of London, England; and her beloved cat, Madyline. Ann was predeceased by her parents, John and Aileen (Wilkinson) Flack; two brothers, Ray Flack and Roger Flack.

A celebration of life will be held from 2-5 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2020, at Ann's home at 8 Jackson Avenue, Searsport, ME.

Donations in Ann's memory may be made to Friends of Sears Island (FOSI), P.O. Box 348, Searsport, ME 04974. Arrangements by Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Searsport. mitchelltweedie-young.com
