Roanoke, Virginia - Ann (Beaulieu) Sutherland, born on March 31, 1947, in Masardis, Maine, passed away on July 11, 2026, in Roanoke, Virginia, following a brief illness with cancer.

Ann shared 61 years of marriage with her husband, James "Jim" Sutherland of Portage Lake, Maine. Married in Waterbury, Connecticut, they built a life together filled with love, adventure, and treasured memories. Throughout the years, they made their home in Connecticut and Laguna Beach, California, before retiring to Virginia.

Ann enjoyed a successful career. She spent 15 years as a supervisor with Handy & Harmon (a global precious metals company) in Waterbury, Connecticut, and El Monte, California. She later joined JCPenney in Laguna Niguel, California, where she worked for 20 years. Beginning as a fashion sales associate, she advanced to become the store's training manager before retiring.

Retirement opened the door to Ann's passion for travel. Alongside Jim, she explored the world, visiting 75 countries, enjoying 27 cruises, and taking numerous motor coach tours throughout the United States. Their adventures included visits to many of the world's great cities, as well as to most of America's National Parks, creating a lifetime of unforgettable experiences and cherished memories.

Ann is survived by her husband, Jim; her daughter, Laurie Ann Howell and her husband, John, of California; her son, Gary Sutherland of Connecticut; her sister, Linda Palmer and her husband, Donald, of Ashland, Maine; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack and Robin Sutherland; and her sister-in-law, Linda Goelz of Durham, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilfred and Mary Beaulieu.

Ann will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her remarkable ability to plan and organize memorable trips around the world, and the joy she found in discovering new places and cultures. Her warmth, kindness and enthusiasm for life will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Interment will take place at the Portage Lake Municipal Cemetery in Portage Lake, Maine.
