Angela Christine Vafiades Bell Obituary

Bangor, Maine - Angela Christine Vafiades Bell, 65, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 19, 2026.

Angel is survived by her mother, Gisel Vafiades; her brothers, Anthony "Tony" Vafiades and his wife, Nikki, and Christopher Vafiades and his wife, Jennifer; her nephews, Logan, Alec, and Devon; and nieces, Kaitlin and Hailee. She was predeceased by her beloved father, Anthony Vafiades.

Born in Bangor, Maine, Angel was the daughter of Anthony and Gisel Vafiades. She graduated from Bangor High School in 1978. After high school, Angel followed her interest in cars and began working on cars at Sears. She later worked in service positions at VanSyckle Lincoln-Mercury and Varney GMC before eventually joining Penquis. Wherever she worked she was knowledgeable, valued, and well-loved. Angel was known for being hardworking, dependable, and always giving her best in everything she did.

Angel was a devoted aunt who shared her love and generosity with her nieces and nephews. Her lifelong passion for animals began at a young age through riding and showing horses, and she loved passing that passion on by taking her nieces and nephews horseback riding and on many animal-centered adventures. She made each one of them feel special with her personalized trips she put together especially for them, lifetime memories!

Throughout the years, Angel's love for animals grew into a true passion for rescue and advocacy work. She spent countless hours volunteering with rescue animals and helping support animal sanctuaries, something that brought her so much happiness and purpose. Most recently, she volunteered at Peace Ridge Sanctuary in Brooks, Maine.

Angel loved all animals, but bunnies held an extra special place in her heart. She absolutely adored her bunny, Lila, and made sure she was spoiled with love, attention, and the best care possible.

Angel was a music enthusiast. She loved attending concerts whenever her favorite bands came to town. She played piano when she was younger and aspired to play again in recent years. She also had a beautiful singing voice.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Angel Bell may be made to Peace Ridge Sanctuary on the Peace Ridge Sanctuary donation page, peaceridgesanctuary.org. A celebration of life and light luncheon will be held on Sunday, June 14, at 1 p.m. at Blue Sky Event Center, 357 Odlin Rd., Bangor, ME.
