Bangor, Maine - Albert "Jim" J. Grover, 89, passed away July 26, 2025, in Bangor, surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 25, 1935, in Bangor, the son of Albert F. and Zira M. (Smith) Grover.
Jim served in the Air Force for more than 20 years in both Vietnam and Korea. After serving his country, he went to work for Eastern Fine Papermill for 27 years before retiring to play with his grandsons. He enjoyed his trips to England to see his wife, Shelia's family, driving across the United States, and fishing.
In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his wife, Sheila; daughter, Margaret; sister, Donna and friend, Joan Galant. He is survived by his son, Roland Jim Grover and wife, Janine, of Bangor; two grandsons that made him proud, Ethan, a registered nurse at Northern Light Health, and Kevin, working in Portland for an accounting firm; brother, George Vincent Grover; nephews, George Grover and Jason Shaw; and friends forever, David, Brian, Steven, and Robert Cratchley.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 4, 2025, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor with the Rev. Carl Schreiber of East Orrington Congregational Church, officiating. All are welcome to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor, immediately following the service. Interment will be in Mt.
