She graduated from Machias Memorial High School in 2002. She went to Corcoran College of Art & Design in Washington, D.C. & graduated with a B.A. in 2007 from the University of Maine at Orono. She was employed over the years by Senator Susan Collins; Disability RMS; & Thomas Fallon Photography.
Alana's gift & love of life was art. She loved the outdoors, particularly the 60 acres she grew up on & used her time there to hone her imagination. Her imagination was phenomenal as shown through the stories she wrote & the art she drew. She was an avid reader. Her love of animals had the house filled with stray cats & rabbits. She was the most compassionate, humble, loving person you could meet & cared deeply for others. Her soul was like sunshine & she radiated peace & love.
Besides her husband & parents she leaves behind her grandmother, Lillian M. Phenicie (Chambersburg, PA.), in-laws Michael & Linda Colford (Bangor) & Randall Cox (Winchester, KY), along with their 3 children. She also leaves behind 6 uncles, 5 aunts, & 11 cousins, whose hearts she touched deeply. She leaves her dearest friends Adrianne Laurel (Portland), Kathryn Parenteau (Portland), Zachary Richards (Portland), Sarah Irving Gilbert (Camden), & Lindsey Blake (Hinsdale, NH), along with many more.
A Memorial Service/Celebration of Life will be held September 3rd, 2016 in Machias. Final arrangements will be given closer to the date. Check Alana's Facebook page for more information or the Machias Valley News Observer.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been set up with Jennifer Tuell, Machias Savings Bank P.O. Box 318, Machias, Maine 04654. These funds will be used for a perpetual memorial.
