Pittsfield, Maine - Abbie Marie Fowler, 69, died peacefully after a short illness on December 12, 2022. She was born on January 27, 1953, in Caribou, Maine, one of nine children born to the late George and Frances (Butterfield) Randall.

She grew up on a farm in Etna and graduated from Hermon High School with the class of 1971. She was a hand sewer for many years in the local shoe shops. Abbie was a force of nature, lovingly direct, and yet very respectful of those around her. She was the rock of her family, always reminding them that they could do anything that they set their heart and mind to do. She also enjoyed writing journals, browsing book stores, reading, doing acts of kindness for others, listening to Bon Jovi songs, and getting her hair and nails done. She was a terrific cook and was known for her brownies, snickerdoodles, baked beans and homemade bread.

She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Stephen Fowler of Pittsfield; children, Shannon Lee Mount and husband, Howard, of Bremen, GA, Colleen Jennifer Ballard and husband, Scott, of Detroit, and Derek James McCarty and wife, Hilary, of Cornish; grandchildren, Casey Elizabeth Hill, Liam Connor Hill, Karissa Marie Walter and husband, Joe, Brianna Lynne Egan Ballard, Katelynne Abbie McCarty, Rhodey Violet McCarty, and Ian David McCarty; great-grandson, Emerson Fox Walter; siblings, Georgenia Graves of Etna, Eugene Randall and wife, Faye, of Dixmont, Jessica Bernard and husband, David, of Madison, and Jacqueline Wescott of Rindge, NH; extensive and very loved nieces, nephews, and close family members, including Darleen Austin and Sharon Walgreen.

She was predeceased by her parents; and siblings, Burton Randall, Lorraine Garber, Lydia Sperrey, and Clifford Randall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society cancer.org to support lung cancer research in her memory.

A celebration of life is planned with interment scheduled for late spring 2023 in Aroostook county.
