HERMON AND MILLINOCKET - Zachary W. Dewley, 25 died unexpectedly Wednesday, December 31, 2014 in Augusta. He was born May 30, 1989 in Bangor, the son of Joy Dewley.
Zak grew up in Hermon, and was very proud of his wrestling career as a Hawk. He graduated from Hermon High School, class of 2008. A very patriotic soul, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps, a decision he made
early on. He loved being a Marine.
During his time of active duty, he was deployed to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Zak was honorably discharged from the Marines in 2012 with the rank of Lance Corporal. He had a great affinity for ATV's and firearms, and spent much time target practicing. He enjoyed music, and was very talented at playing the guitar - better than he gave himself credit for! Zak's favorite place to be was at the family's camp at South Twin Lake, and he loved spending time with his family, who will miss him greatly.
He is survived by his grandmother, Harriet Dewley of Millinocket; his brother, Eric W. Dewley and nephew Dylan, both of Bradley; uncle, Dirk Dewley; aunt Tammy Dewley; six cousins, Tyler Dewley, Bradley Dewley, Staci Michaud and her husband Dave, Emerson Michaud, and Jacoby Michaud, all of Millinocket, an aunt, Bobbi-Jo Pound of Bangor; and special friends, P.J. Richard, Tristan Taggart, and Makelle Jarvis.
He was predeceased by his mother, grandfather, Chester Dewley, and an uncle, Terry Dewley.
Friends are invited to visit with the family 1-2 P.M. Monday, January 5 at the Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, with funeral services beginning at 2. Spring interment will be at the Millinocket Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Zak may be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project 150 Cambridge Park Drive, Suite 202 Cambridge, Massachusetts 02140.
