PORTLAND - Wyneta Nightingale, 84, of Stevens Avenue, passed away unexpectedly on May 30, 2016 in Portland. She was born in Orland, ME, a daughter of Herbert and Alice (Gray) Conary, on November 1, 1931.
She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Leroy E. Nightingale in 2006. She was one of nine children and is survived by only her brother, Marshall. She is also survived by her children, Terry Nightingale of Westbrook; Denise Gordon and husband Dick of Scarborough; grandchildren, Katherine, Nicholas, Jessica, Nathan and Whitney; great-grandchildren, Claire, Averi, Molly, Asher, Aiden, Colby and Wesley.
Wyneta was a friend to everyone she met. During her life she lived in numerous communities in Maine and Florida.
She married Leroy in 1950 and she was a homemaker, and while living in Lincoln she was a school secretary, and town clerk. She also enjoyed participating in many community activities while there. After her retirement in 1986 she enjoyed her home in Florida where she loved to play golf. In her later years she especially enjoyed her time and her numerous friends at Park Danforth in Portland.
A graveside service will be held at 1 PM on June 14, 2016 at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta, ME.
Arrangements are by Jones Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, Portland.
