Winifred's Story

AUGUSTA - Winifred M. Ouellette 87, formally of Jackman, passed away on August 20, 2015 at the Maine Veterans Home in Augusta. Winnie was born September 12th, 1927 in Ft. Kent, the seventh child of Louis P. and Abbie (Deschene) Paquet. Winnie was raised in the Allagash wilderness and was educated in schools in Umsaskis and Churchill Depot, and later in Lac-Frontiere, P.Q. In 1947, at the age of 20 she married Ronaldo J. Ouellette, a decorated war veteran from St. Francis. Winnie and Ronald spent many wonderful younger years living in Clayton Lake and 50 years living in Jackman. In 2013 they moved to Augusta residing at the Howell House for nearly two years. They celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on June 14, 2015.

Winifred is survived by her husband, Ronaldo, three sons Ronald L. Ouellette and hus wife Colleen of Augusta, Brian J. Ouellette of Meredith, NH, and Mark Steven Ouellette of Jackman, five grandchildren, Sherrie Ferns and her husband John of NH, Brian J. Ouellette Jr. and his wife Carey of VA, Kristy M. Badger and her husband Glen of NH, Amanda L. Ouellette of ME, and Andrea M. Bronson and her husband Ben of CO, seven great grandchildren, Derick, Brandon, and Kayla Ouellette, Devin and Makena Kimball, Connor and Cody Ferns. Winnie is also survived by her sisters, Louise Irish and Jeannine Weymouth and her husband Earl, many nieces and nephews.

Winnie has been a devout and faithful Catholic all her life. She has always lived a God centered and sincere life as a wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of St. Anthony's Church in Jackman and has generously served her church and community. One of her most cherished memories is visiting Rome and seeing Pope John Paul II in St. Peter's Square.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00am, Monday August 24th at St. Faustina Church of St. Anthony Parish, on Main St. in Jackman. Interment will be in St. Anthony Cemetery in Jackman.
