LINCOLN - Winifred L. Clemons, 93, wife of the late Alfred Clemons, passed away March 25, 2016, at her home. She was born Nov. 23, 1922, in Lincoln, the daughter of James H. and Stella (Sturgeon) Whalen.
Winnie was very proud to have been a Navy veteran of the WAVES during World War II and was a member of the VFW. She was a communicant of St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church and dearly loved her church. She enjoyed the Beano ladies with whom she loved playing Beano. She was a member of the Singing Group.
She is survived by a grandson, Blaine "Spike" Clemons and his wife, Marcia; a great-grandson, Gauge Clemons; a sister, Virginia Cole; a special niece, Penny Allen and her husband, Lester; a special son-in-law, Dale Marston; many other nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was predeceased by her children, Blaine Clemons and Ann Marston; and siblings, Francis Whalen, Kathryn Murchison and Pat DeLaite.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m.Thursday with the Rev. Bruce Siket officiating.
