William's Story

BANGOR & BREWER - William Patrick Meade, 76, died unexpectedly Nov. 13, 2014 in Waterbury, CT while visiting his daughter. He was born Oct. 23, 1938 in Bangor, the son of Joseph M. and Pauline M. (Griffin) Meade.

Bill was a graduate of John Bapst High School and attended Husson College. He served with the US Air Force for 21 years retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant having worked as a Personnel Superintendent stationed all over the world including time in Iceland, Maine, Wisconsin, Colorado, California and Italy. Bill also worked for the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office in the county jail and worked for the Maine Bureau of Transportation. He was a communicant of St. Paul the Apostle Parish in Bangor and was a volunteer "angel" for the parish cemetery, Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, donating time to improving the cemetery grounds.

Bill will be missed and loved by his four surviving children, Patrick Meade and his wife, Guadalupe of Casa Grande, AZ, Shawn Meade and his wife, Rosemary of Edison, NJ; Lisa Amatruda of Woodbury, CT and Susan Meade of Brewer; eight grandchildren, Brittany and Patrick Meade, Jr. of Arizona, Shawn Meade II and Ryan Meade both of New Jersey, Nicholas , Matthew, Anna-Catherine and Sophia Amatruda all of Connecticut; a sister, Pollyann Myser and her, husband, Donald of Meridian, Idaho; sister-in-law, Juanita Meade of Yuma, AZ; several nieces, nephews and cousins, especially Theresa Tracy. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Michael Meade. Bill will be remembered by lifelong friends, Skip Rist, Louie George, Jimmy Nelligan and Mike Ford.

Family and friends may visit 4 - 7 PM Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Ohio St., Bangor. A time of fellowship will be held immediately afterward. Burial with full military honors will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor.
