William's Story

PALMYRA - Technical Sergeant William A. MacLaren, Sr., (USAF, Ret.), 79, went to be with the Lord on August 3, 2016.

He was a longtime member of St. Martin's parish and loved his home at MacLaren Highland Acres in Palmyra. A proud Vietnam veteran and longtime resident of Palmyra, he is survived by his wife, Jacquelyn; his six children, Laura and husband, Todd Pineo, William and wife, Cathy MacLaren, Elizabeth MacLaren and Judith MacLaren; 10 grandchildren, Melissa, Dave, Rachel, Emily, Andrew, Scott, William, Ethan, Ari and Shaina; 6 great-grandchildren, Daniel, Chelsea, Caleb, Quinn, Brynn, and Declan; his sister, Susan and husband, Edward Harnden. He leaves behind a loving extended family and circle of friends, and his dog, Angel.

He was predeceased by a sister, Elaine Briggs; brothers, John, Allen and Lawrence MacLaren; and son-in-law, Michael Samet.

Memorial services will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday, August 11th, at St. Martin's Episcopal Church, U. S. Route 2, Palmyra, with the Rev. Laura Peckham officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the V.A. V.S. Hospice Unit, Voluntary Services 135, Department of Veterans Affairs, 1 VA Center, Augusta, ME 04330.
