Island Falls - Willard 'Billy' F. Pipes Jr., 63, passed away at his home after a battle with cancer, surrounded by family on February 16, 2017. He was born October 31, 1953, in Island Falls, the son of Willard F. Pipes Sr. and Lois Maude (Dunphy) Pipes.
Billy worked for the Maine DOT for 31 years and he loved being behind the wheel of the orange "Big FWD". You always knew when it was Billy because all you could see was his hand waving at you. He enjoyed cruising around in his gold Pontiac Trans AM, riding the back dirt roads with his buddy, Charles Hurlbert. He was always the life of the party and loved to make people laugh and dance. Most of the time he enjoyed hanging with all his buddies at "Dunphy's" and going to Porter's Garage every morning for coffee and "The Porter's Report".
He is survived by his beloved girlfriend, Laureen Sanders of Island Falls, who he often referred to as "The Dutchess of Dyer Brook"; 3 children, Eric Pipes and his wife, Crystal of Patten, Andrea Pipes and her partner Jamie Kaelin of Crystal and Jennifer Pipes and her partner Brock McNally of Patten; 3 special grandchildren, Wesley "The Silent Assassin" Pipes, Wyatt "The Hurricane" Pipes and Whitney "The Witness" Pipes; his special little friend, Rylee "The Ryster" Kuliga; his sisters, Shirley Sides of Golden Ridge, Sandra and her husband John Anderson of Oakfield and Mary Pipes of Island Falls; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Willard and Lois Pipes; his brother, Michael Pipes Sr.; special nephew, Johnny McCarthey; father-in-law Wesley M. Porter Jr.; and his brother-in-law Peter Sides.
