Wendell R. Monson, 73, passed away February 21, 2015 at a Bangor hospital, after an extended illness. Wendell was born February 26, 1941, in Fort Fairfield, the son of Ray F. and Marjorie L. (Colpitts) Monson. He was a graduate of Fort Fairfield High School, class of 1959. Wendell began his career as a police officer for the Town of Fort Fairfield in 1963, retiring as Chief in 1983, due to declining health.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two daughters, Laurie Ann, Terri and granddaughter, Wendy. Wendell is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sandra (Boxwell) Monson; three daughters, Tammy, Della and Theresa; two brothers, Wayne and his wife, Katherine of Hermon, and Rick and his wife, Laurie of Hampden; three sisters, Glenda Frank of Bangor, Carolyn Chambers and her husband, Edward of Buford, GA, Sharon Frierson and her husband, Walter of Eatonton, GA; 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service for the family will take place at a later date.
