Weldon L. 'Pete' Wasson, 86, of Norridgewock, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2016, at Somerset Rehabilitation and Living Center in Bingham.
Pete was born on November 18, 1929, in Machias, Maine, a son of Alvin and Vinnie (Pressley) Wasson. He was educated in the local schools. Weldon enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict.
Pete worked most of his life operating heavy equipment for road construction. He was employed for 54 years at H.E. Sargent Construction; he worked every day doing something physical until he was 79.
He liked sports, especially the Red Sox. He enjoyed being with his family and keeping busy.
Weldon was predeceased by his wife, Letha Wasson as well as two brothers, Burtis Wasson and Eugene Wasson.
He is survived by his step children, Bruce Yeaton of Norridgewock, Bonnie Morrison and her husband Bob of Norridgewock, Brian Yeaton and his wife Margie of Montgomery, AL, Brenda Hiltz and her husband Ray of Norridgewock, Belinda Trafton and her husband Merrill of Wellington, his grandchildren, Kristin Osgood of Skowhegan, Rob Morrison and his wife Lesley of Sidney, Paul Morrison of Vassalboro, Lorri Hiltz of Mercer, Megan Douglass and her husband Thomas of Sangerville, and Greg Hiltz of Lamoine, two great grandchildren as well as two sisters, Donna Richardson and her husband Ira of Machias and Myrna Davis of Ellsworth and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Somerset Rehabilitation and Living Center for their care of Pete for the last 1 and a half years.
At Weldon's request, there will be no services scheduled at this time. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Giberson Funeral Home, Madison.
