Virginia's Story

WEST OSSIPEE, N.H. - Virginia Helen Waugh, 82, of Rt. 16, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2015, at Huggins Hospital, Wolfeboro, N.H. She was born in Presque Isle, Maine, March 7, 1933, the daughter of the late Carl and Marie (Leslie) Woodbury.

Virginia had lived in West Ossipee, N.H., for the past 17 years. She was a graduate of the Presque Isle High School in 1951 Virginia and her husband, Reverend James E. Waugh, were married August 7, 1953. They had served churches in many of the New England States and Pennsylvania. She loved sports and was an avid or known to be a "Fanatical" Red Sox Fan. Virginia was very active in local associations, State and National work of the American Baptist Churches of Maine and the United States. She served as a representative of the State on the ABC-USA General Board and the Board of International Ministries.

She is survived by her husband, Rev. James E. Waugh and his wife, Beth, of West Ossipee, N.H; and a son, Peter J. Waugh of West Ossipee, N.H.; as well as her grandsons, Jonathan and Timothy.

There will be no calling hours. A celebration of her life will be Monday, May 11, 2015, at 3 p.m. at the Water Village Community Church, Rt 171, Ossipee, N.H. Pastor Mark Swenson will be officiating. Donations in her memory may be made to the Water Village Community Church Memorial Fund, 8 Lower Beecham Road, Ossipee, NH 03864.
