Vinal's Story

EAST MILLINOCKET - Vinal V. Cox, 71, husband of Suzanne (Whitehouse) Cox, passed away May 29, 2014 at a Lincoln hospital. He was born Sept. 16, 1942 in Medway, the son of Vinal G. and Clara L. (Stanley) Cox. Vinal was a U S Army veteran. He worked for the Great Northern for 38 years. Vinal was a member of the Mattawamkeag Church of God for more than 20 years. He loved sports, was a Red Sox fan and loved to go fishing. He dearly loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He really liked going out to eat. In addition to his wife, Suzanne, he is survived by four children, Jonathan Cox and Angel, Kevin Cox and Jennifer, Jennifer Downing and Arden, and Tara White and Chad ; two step-children, Sandra Horton, and Scott Horton and Dawn; three siblings, Marcia Berube and Ralph, Bruce Cox and Becky, and Bernadette Pray; a sister in law Patty Cox; 10 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Robert "Bobby" Cox. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. Sunday and 2-4 p.m. Monday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mattawamkeag Church of God, with the Rev. Mark W. York officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Grindstone Road Cemetery, Medway. There will be a gathering downstairs in the church afterward. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be sent to the family at 56 Cedar Street, East Millinocket, ME 04330.
