Vicki's Story

ORRINGTON - "At first, the angels stood behind her bed guarding her every breath. Later, when her breath began to fade, the angels hovered above her, gently lifting her spirit into the heavenly hands of God." Vicki Lynn Jardine, 65, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 4, 2014 after a valiant fight against pancreatic cancer. She was born in Bangor, the daughter of Ralph and Frances Nason.

Of all her accomplishments, Vicki's greatest achievements were in the lives of her family and friends. She had a unique gift to recognize and appreciate the talents of others and to make them feel loved and lifted by her presence. Her kind heart and brilliant smile allowed her to make everything sparkle, from simple conversation to a book read aloud to her grandchildren. Vicki's generous heart filled her home with love, fun, and the attitude that there was always room for one more. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a gentle, caring and loyal woman, who had an inquisitive nature, gave without question, and held honesty in high regard. Above all Vicki was absolutely devoted to her husband, Bob; her children, Stacy, Heather, and Robbie; and, most especially, her grandchildren, Cameron, Alexis, and Liam. She supported, respected and loved Bob unconditionally. She was immensely proud of her children, creating and cherishing a special relationship with each of them. She was equally passionate for her three grandchildren. Granmama could often be found at swim meets, cheering loudly for her loves to go fast and strong, or crawling on the floor with her precious, playing with toys. She leaves her husband, children and grandchildren with the knowledge that they were truly loved.

Vicki was also an avid traveler. Over the years, she ventured to college hockey's Frozen Four 15 times, to the Caribbean on cruises with Claire and Terry, to Walt Disney World with her grandchildren and family, to spa retreats with her daughters, to the Winter Olympics with Allison in Park City, and to the camp on South Twin Lake, where she spent many wonderful summer days.

Vicki grew up in Millinocket and graduated from Stearns High School in 1967. She attended Maine Medical Center School of Radiology in Portland. Her professional career began in 1972 as an x-ray technologist for St. Joseph's Hospital. She took time off to be a stay at home mother for several years until she re-entered the profession in 1985. She advanced to become a mammography technologist and was employed at St. Joseph's Women's Center for 28 years, where she made special lifelong friends.

Vicki is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Robert F. Jardine, Jr.; her adoring children, daughter, Stacy LaBree and husband, Matthew, of Hampden; daughter, Heather Davis and husband, Arthur, of Rochester, NH; son, Robbie Jardine and wife, Carrie, of Dedham; beloved grandchildren, Cameron and Alexis LaBree, and Liam Jardine. She will be greatly missed by her sisters, nieces, nephews and numerous friends.

Family and friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St., Brewer.
