- Velma C. Buck, 81, died peacefully Tues., July 18, 2017 at home with loved ones. Velma was born Sept., 13, 1935, in Van Buren, Maine, the daughter of Joesph and Catherine (Levasseur) Sirois.
Velma attended Van Buren schools. In 1956 she married James Francis Buck and became a military wife. Velma lived in Louisiana, Japan, New Jersey, Georgia, Indiana, Utah, and Massachusetts. She worked as a head cashier/accounts receivable at the NCO Club for ten years while living in Indiana. In 1987 they moved to Massachusetts and she was employed at Park Place Self Storage in Norwood until her retirement. She enjoyed being in the sun, shopping, bingo, and making occasional trips to the casino. Velma was also an avid Patriot and Red Sox fan. She loved her family and was always supportive of her children and grandchildren.
Velma is survived by her children Jennifer (Rocco) Vitacca of Colorado and Cheryl (Michael) Doyle of Norwood, grandchildren: James Buck II, Kara (Mark) Magdaleno, Taryn Vitacca, Malora Rogers, great-granddaughter Blake Magdaleno and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Joesph and Catherine Sirois, brothers: Zoel, Alva, Emilien, Bertrand, Claude, Lionel, James, and sisters: Connie Cote, Pauline Deschaine, Annette LeBrun and baby girl Sirois.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Aug. 25, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Gracelawn Memorial Park at 980 Turner Street, Auburn, ME 04210 followed by the interment and reception.
