- Vaughn W. Chadbourne, 95, passed peacefully and went to join his beloved wife Marion on July 29, 2017. He was born July 5, 1922, in Harmony, Maine, the son of Cony W. and Inez A. (Watson) Chadbourne.
Vaughn was educated in Harmony and Main Stream School Systems. He served in the US Army in WW2 serving in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe under General Patton and was honorably discharged in January 1946 having received many decorations and citations. Vaughn was a Mason joining St. Andrews Lodge in Bangor in 1974 and became Master in 1982, a member of Anah Shriners serving in the Second Section. He also was as a member of the Brewer Eagles Club. He was a hand sewer for many years, carpenter then contractor then remodeler/builder of homes in the Bangor area well into his seventies. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer, cribbage player and he loved to dance.
A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he was predeceased by his beloved wife of 47 years Marion and his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Virginia Chadbourne as well as two brothers and seven sisters. He is survived by his granddaughter Christal Telke and her husband Bruce and children of Berlin, CT, grandson Thomas Merchant and wife Kelly and children of Bradley, ME, brother Basil Chadbourne and wife Alta of Rochester, NH, sister Marilyn Clapp of Exeter, ME and sister Evelyn Keaten of South Paris, ME, as well as many nieces and nephews. The family also expresses their thanks to Bette and Betty, with whom he made a wonderful friendship, for their kindness and caring attention.
Relatives and friends are invited to call 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, August 4, 2017 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor, where a funeral with Masonic services will be held 12 noon Saturday, August 5, 2017 with Jacob Gran presiding and the officers and members of St. Andrews Lodge.
