Travers's Story

VERONA ISLAND - Travers W. Peacock went to be with his Lord on December 17, 2014, after a long illness. He was born January 3, 1933, in Gardner, the son of George and Geneva Peacock.

Travers worked for Central Maine Power in Farmingdale before joining the U.S. Army; he worked for 38 years in Bucksport at the paper mill, St. Regis, Champion and retired from International Paper. He also belonged to the Local 261 Paper Makers Union.  He was a member of the Stockton Community Church. Travers enjoyed traveling the U.S. and Canada. He loved to ride around the country roads, enjoying the beauty of nature.  He loved fishing, woodworking and working around his home.

Travers is survived by his loving wife, Muriel (Brown) Peacock; his special cat, Sophie; his daughters, Kathryn Carrier and husband, Bill, and Gail Peacock of Maryland; and son, Tracy Peacock and wife, Michelle, of Minnesota. He leaves seven grandchildren, BJ Carrier, Heather Pruit, Travers, Alex and Kayla Finnerty, Veronica and Richelle Peacock; as well as three great-grandchildren, Garrett, Lindsey and Brady. He was predeceased by his father, George Peacock; mother, Geneva Peacock; and sister, Beverly McLaughlin. Special thanks to the nursed at the VA Facility in Augusta and June Hesseltine for their care and assistance during Travers sickness.

A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport. He will be laid to rest at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta. Donations in Travers memory may be made to the Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mt.
