- Thomas 'Tab' Culley Young, 76, walked peacefully into the arms of his Savior, March 6, 2017. He was born August 2, 1940, in Bangor, son of Francis and Louise (Culley) Young. Tom graduated from Bangor High School in 1960.
Tom had various jobs including his most notable position as the "Lonely Maytag Repairman." (Jesse White thought he was the only one.) Jobs held were cook at Camp Roosevelt, various gas stations, service tech for Landry's Appliance, and he also cooked at the NCO club in Bangor.
Thomas was very patriotic and community-minded. He was a Boy Scout, member of the Bangor Jaycees, Civil Air Patrol, and Chamber of Commerce. Reading was always an important part of his life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, travelling, and his "cup of coffee" all over the state of Maine.
Tom was predeceased by his parents and infant sister, Kathleen. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Rosemary (Jackson) Young, the mother of his children, Evelyn Wood, their combined families; his daughter Sharon and husband, Andrew Lang, his son Thomas II and wife, Tara, her children, Shelly, Sherry, and Frederick Eames, brother, Frank and wife, Mary-Ellen and sister, Lucia Williams-Young, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday, March 11, 2017, at New Life Community Church, 391 N. Main St., Suite G., Brewer, followed by a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to ATTN: Mel Coombs, Jericho Road Street Ministry, 146 Center St., Bangor, ME 04401.
