SURRY - Thomas Edison Norwood -"Master of the Long Goodbye", died November 7th, 2014. Born January 20th, 1967, in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, Tom was the fourth son of the late Laforest "Huck" Norwood and Caroline Bedell Norwood (Westport, Nova Scotia). Tom was a wonderful husband and best friend to his sweet wife of twenty years, Nichole. He was funny, kind, and smart and possessed by a curiosity in the world and people around him that drove him to share his wonderful discoveries with all. Tom was the guy you wanted with you catching mackerel in Patten Bay and the brother you hoped would pick up the phone and chat after a long day at work.
He was a published author, professional cook, and an outstanding photographer. Tom was not a boastful man, but his lobster rolls were so darned good the lobsters willingly crawled up on the shore to be a part of the feast. He could build a computer or fix a car, but possibly what Tom did best was that anyone around him who was down or empty or lonely knew they could talk to him and they would come away feeling like life was worth living, and that in him they had someone who cared.
Family gatherings were never complete until Tom and Nichole rolled up in style. He always looked ruggedly handsome in his trademark Filson hat and vest, and his stories, commentary and insight were the highlight of a visit.
He will be forever loved and missed by his family and friends.
