LISBON - Thomas Edward Hughes, 61, passed away Saturday September 26th. He was born in Fort Kent, the first of 5 children born to Hampton and Lula Hughes.
Thomas grew up in Brunswick and after graduating from Brunswick High School he served 24 years in the United States Air Force retiring in Arkansas after having been stationed in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the United States. He had several awards and decorations throughout his career rising to the rank of MSGT.
Upon retirement Thomas continued to work in avionics at Lockheed-Martin in Arkansas until he ultimately returned to Maine and took a position at Maine Aviation in the same field.
Thomas was a devoted husband and father, always endeavoring to provide for his family and especially dedicating a great deal of his time to his 2 special needs grandsons whom he loved dearly.
Abraham Lincoln once said, "One day your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure its worth watching." Those of us who were fortunate enough to be a part of the life Thomas lead will visit and revisit it every day for rest of our lives and hope to be granted some solace in our hearts at this time of great loss.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife Tracey, his mother Lula, sons Zack and Thomas, daughter Samantha, brothers Brian and Hampton, sisters Myra and Karen. Grandchildren Sierra, Kylah, Dickie and Willy along with several nephews and nieces.
Viewing hours will be Thursday October 1st from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street, Brunswick. A Mass celebrating his life will be held on Friday, October 2nd at 10:00 AM at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 67 Frost Hill Avenue, Lisbon Falls. Internment will be immediately afterwards in Brunswick at the St. John's Cemetery.
