NAPERVILLE, IL AND FORT KENT - Theresa C. Young, 90, a longtime resident of Fort Kent and Sebring, FL., died July 8, 2014, peacefully entered god's hands, surrounded by family, following a sudden illness. She was born March 19, 1924, in New Canada, to Henry and Catherine (Michaud) Bouchard.
A graduate of the Madawaska Training School and the University of Maine, Fort Kent, she started her teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse at the age of 16 in New Canada, continuing in the education profession until retirement from the Fort Kent Elementary School System. Theresa was past president of the Fort Kent Business Professional Women's Association and co-owner with her husband, Byron Young, of the Y & W Hardware.
She was predeceased by her husband, Byron Young in 2007 and daughters, Cathy, Bonnie and Mary. Theresa is survived by her children, George and his wife, Donna Young, of Naperville, IL; Robert and his wife, Trudie Young of Kennebunk; Thomas and his wife, Deborah Young, of Hooksett, NH; and daughter, Gail and her husband, Michael Reich, of Hyde Park, MA; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild.
Friends may call Monday, July 14 from 9 a.m. until time of service at the Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. Services will be held in the funeral home 11 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. James Nadeau officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bonita Louise Young Memorial Scholarship Fund, via the MSAD # 27, Office of the Superintendent, 84 Pleasant Street, Suite # 1, Fort Kent, ME.
