Theresa's Story

VAN BUREN - Theresa C. Laplante, 91, died peacefully Friday evening, June 5, 2015, at her home. She was born August 30, 1923 in Hamlin, the eldest daughter of the late Charles and Axilda (Cyr) Laplante.

Following her high school years, Theresa attended and graduated from the former Carney Nursing Program in Massachusetts. Theresa became a registered nurse and served for many years with former Birdseye Pea Factory and doing home nursing for many area residents. A "jack-of-all-trades," she built a camp on Long Lake, built a garage at the house and fixed up her home, often times employing the company of her family and friends. Theresa was never one to sit idle and loved when her nieces and nephews came to visit.

She is survived by: four siblings, Chanel Laplante and his life Leola of Van Buren, Germaine Moran of Massachusetts, Patrick "Pit" Laplante and his wife Joane of New Hampshire, and Eileen "Lou" Cyr of Van Buren; and many nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.

Besides her parents, Theresa is predeceased by: five siblings, George Laplante, Gerard Laplante, Bernard Laplante, Emile Laplante, and Jeanne Tilley.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, with Father David Cote officiating, at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family Wednesday morning 9am until the time of service at Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren.
