Theodore's Story

PORTLAND - Theodore Linwood Leavitt, 56 of Smithfield and Hampden, husband of Dawn Marie (Achorn), passed away after a sudden and unexpected illness on Wednesday, September 17th at Maine Medical Center. 4 hours and 20 minutes after the cessation of medical intervention, while surrounded by his family, Lindy transcended to another realm.

Born on September 4th, 1958, at Eastern Maine Medical Center, Lindy was the son of the late Dennis Melvin and Carla Adele (Bowen) Leavitt.

After he graduated from URI with a Bachelors of Science in Pharmacology, he started his career in pharmaceuticals at Oh Mart & Hinckley, and then he moved onto Miller Drug. Lindy then continued on working in various retail and hospital settings until most recently retiring from Inland Hospital on 12/31/13 after 9 years of service.

Lindy was many things: a lifelong NRA member, a generous supporter of the Good Shepard Food Bank, a proud Maine woodsman, an avid hunter and fisherman, a Dungeon Master, a horticulturist, a homesteader, and a dedicated family man.

Lindy is survived by his three children: Joshua Linwood Leavitt, his wife Jennie (Smith), and their son Elijah Linwood of Concord, NH; Mikja Stanley Leavitt and his beloved partner Nicole Vera of Gilmanton, NH; Katrina Marie Tozier her husband Justin Tozier, and their twins Constance Marie and Evelyn Ruth; two brothers: Melvin Dennis Leavitt, his wife Beth, and their children Megan, Cayla, and Jake of Raymond, NH; Steven Earl Leavitt and his husband Ray of Malden, MA; his Father in law Ray Achorn; his Mother and father in law Judy and Ralph Jellison: and his four brother in laws: Ray Achorn and his daughters Nikki and Teagan; Brett Achorn, his wife Ginny, and their children Althea, Lukas, and Danielle; Todd Achorn, his partner Joe; and Jeff Achorn; as well as many additional loved ones and "adopted" children that he impacted along the way.
