Thelma's Story

LUBEC - Thelma P. Erquhart, 93, passed away unexpectedly on June 9, 2015, at DECH in Machias. Thelma was born in Trescott, Maine, on October 28, 1921, the daughter of Lester Archer and Angie Pinkham.

She is survived by her son, Bruce L. Archer and wife, Bonita; sister, Gladys Kelly, both of Lubec; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 20 years, Harold E. Erquhart of Lubec; and siblings, Ira Archer of Calais, Rolla Archer of Alexander, Frank Archer of Richmondville, NY, Ruth Bridges of Whitneyville and Paul Archer of Calais.

Thelma worked at various jobs, cleaning houses after the death of her husband and moved to Cutler to live, where she made many friends. Her reputation for "squeaky clean" housekeeping and tireless attention to detail kept her in high demand for cleaning jobs for many years. She subsequently retired and moved to Ridgewood Apts in Machias, then to Sunrise apts in Lubec to be near family.

There will be a graveside service at Greenfield Cemetary in Lubec on a date to be announced.
