Sylvia's Story

ST. FRANCIS - Sylvia M. Ouellette, 88, died peacefully, April 22, 2014 at a Bangor Health Care Facility. She was born July 21, 1925, in St. Francis, the daughter of Daniel F. and Rebecca (Jandreau) Thibodeau.

Before her retirement, Sylvia worked at the Federation Dehydration Plant during W.W.II and later for JC Penny in Fort Kent.

Sylvia was very active and donated much of her time throughout the years to the following; serving as past vice-president of the Ladies of St. Anne. past vice-president for the Jandreau-Connors American Legion Auxiliary of St. Francis, 20 years Commander of the Martin-Ouellette D.A.V.A. Auxiliary. Fund raiser for the Food Pantry in Fort Kent., secretary for 20 years of the Historical Society, and past director of the St. Francis Housing Authority, Chair person of the American Cancer Society for 25 years, and served as secretary for the Veterans Memorial in St. Francis.

She is survived by her six children; Cynthia Thibodeau of Morgan Hills, CA, June and husband Ervin Jandreau of St. Francis, Lucy Ann and husband Bob Riggs of Sitka, Alaska., Lamont and wife Debbie Ouellette of East Millinocket, Craig and wife Marlene Ouellette of St. Francis, and Neal Ouellette of Caribou. 10 grandchildren: Todd, Shawn, Tracy, Shannon, Lance and Tina Thibodeau, Sarah (Jandreau) Morin, Lyndsay Jandreau, Matthew and Michaela Ouellette, . 8 great-grandchildren; Austin and Alexis Treadway, Tara, Tatum, Kylie, and Isabella Thibodeau, Sophie and Gabriel Morin. She is also survived by one brother, Theodore Thibodeau and one sister, Rose Mercer and by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased her husband Dewey V. Ouellette in 1988, two brothers; Valmond and Trefflie Thibodeau, and one sister, Drucella Murch.

Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 30th and 9 a.m. Thursday until time of service at the Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Charles Catholic Church, St. Francis. Committal Services will follow in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery. Those who wish in Sylvia's memory may donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142 Memphis, TN 38148-0142. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
