Sue's Story

BRADFORD - Sue Ellen (Deal) Clapp, 86, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2014 surrounded by her family and beloved dogs. She was born in Walhalla, SC on August 18, 1928, daughter of Lester and Dot Deal.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-three years, Roger Clapp, Jr.; two daughters, Brenda Jury of Bangor, Victoria Kahl and her husband, Russell Kahl, of Orono, and her three grandchildren, Brandon Kahl, Andrew Kahl, and Rachel Kahl, all of Orono. She also leaves behind much family in South Carolina, whom she loved dearly.

Sue's happiest moments were those helping others. She volunteered extensively, always wanting to make other people's lives better. She had an unquenchable zest for life, eager and ready to explore new experiences and adventures. She cared fiercely for her family, always their greatest cheerleader. Her love for her animals almost exceeded her love for humans. She leaves behind an amazing legacy of the importance of family, friends, and not being afraid to meet life with all you have.

Per Sue's wishes, there will be no formal funeral or memorial service, only a private family gathering. She would want you to honor her memory by using that Pay-it-Forward mentality: Go make someone else's life better!

The family wishes to thank the 6th Floor Staff at St. Joseph's Hospital for their incredible care during the final weeks of her life. You embraced her, treating her as your own. We are forever grateful!
