Stevens J. Plante, 66, of Jackman, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 15, 2016, at Maine General Hospital in Augusta, with his family by his side. He was born in Jackman on October 8, 1949, a son of Rosaire and Pauline (Colgan) Plante.
He was educated in the local schools. Stevens was employed for 16 plus years for the Department of Transportation, earlier he worked for Scott Paper Company as a scaler, timber cutter and a truck driver. Stevens enjoyed playing golf, hunting,trapping, ice fishing, boating, taking his Ranger side-by-side out for rides, hanging out with friends and family, watching old Westerns and most of all spending time with his beloved son, Ross.
Stevens was predeceased by his parents; as well as his uncle, Joseph Plante. He is survived by his son, Ross Plante of San Diego, California; his brother, Dana Plante and his wife, Denise, of Jackman; his sister, Margaret "Peggy" Rancourt and her husband, Ron, of Southington, Connecticut; an uncle, Frank Colgan and his wife, Claire, of Madawaska; longtime girlfriend, Maria Kipp and her son, Josh Kipp, of San Diego; Ross's mom, Wendy Lumber; three nieces, a nephews, cousins and many close friends.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at 10 a.m. in St. Faustina Catholic Church in Jackman; burial will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Giberson Funeral Home, Bingham. www.gibersonfuneralhome.com
