DOVER, NH AND CASTINE, ME - Steven Peter Saltsman, 67, of Dover, NH, passed away in Boston on October 28, 2014, as a result of a stroke. He was born in Pineville, NY, the son of Jane (Park) and Rushton Saltsman.
He held many interior plant care and landscaping jobs. He received his BS in Biology from Hillsdale College in Michigan and was a member of the Phi Sigma Epsilon fraternity where he was fondly known as "Mother," their housemother. He took masters courses in Plant Pathology at University of Maine, Orono, then later worked for UM doing potato research in Presque Isle, ME.
Pete is survived by his children, Brett Saltsman, and his wife, Caroline, of Chesapeake, VA, and their children, Natalia, Caterina, and Anastasia; his daughter, Kristin Saltsman of Milford, NH, and her son, Finnegan Burgess; his sister, Sally Ready and family of Oneida, NY; and sister-in-law Doreen Saltsman and family, of Schnectady, NY.
Hobbies included gardening and reading. He was a member of the Dover Church of Christ, in Dover, NH, where the service will be held November 17, 2014, at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Pete would have liked donations made in his name given to HOME Inc., PO Box 10, Orland, ME 04472.
