STEPHEN's Story

LINCOLN - Stephen M. Pelkey, 60, passed away peacefully at home, with his wife by his side, September 16, 2014 after a brief battle with cancer. Steve was born September 28, 1953, in Lincoln, the son of William J and Marilyn (Miller) Pelkey.

He graduated from Lee Academy in 1974. He worked for Darling's Auto Parts for 20 years and for the past 17 years, he worked for Springfield Terminal Railway. On November 30, 1974, he married the love of his life, Beth E. Scott and together they made almost 40 years of memories.

He is survived by his wife, Beth, of Lincoln; his mother, Marilyn Pelkey, of Winn; two sisters, Mary Twist, of Chester and Sue Roarks and her husband, Jim, of Bangor; a brother, Edward Pelkey and his wife, Rosanne, of Winn; his mother-in-law, Hildred Scott; brothers-in-law, Gary Scott, Sr., Doug and Nancy Scott and Glenn and Frances Scott; nieces and nephews, Gary Scott, Jr. and his children, Gary Lewis, Shawn and Lindsay, Paul and Rhonda Scott and their children, Kasey and Kody, Sherry and Phillip Dill and their children, Victoria and Ashley, Eric and Sara Scott, Scott Spencer and his daughter, Sarah, Stephanie and Lamar Horton, and their children, Sydney, Tyler, Camden and Tayley, Steven Scott, Tammy Kimball and her children, Britney and Ashley, Traci Gauthier and her children, Vanessa and TJ, Theresa Whitney, Jill Pelkey and her children, Raegan and Taryn, Joey and Anne Pelkey and their children, Daniel and Sarah, and James Roarks. He also leaves a very special little girl, Natalie Grace, whom he loved dearly, and two special neighbors, Lew and Joann, whom he loved and considered family. While he and Beth had no children, they had a very special niece, Sherry Scott Dill, whom he loved and thought of as a daughter. He was predeceased by his father, William J. Pelkey; father-in-law, Donald W. Scott; brother-in-law, David Twist; and by his furry friend, JR.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, September 21, at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Rd., Lincoln. Interment will be in Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Penobscot Valley Humane Society, P.O. Box 73, Lincoln, ME 04457. Donations may be left at the funeral home.
