VAN BUREN - Simone Carrier, 80, died Monday, February 9, 2015, with her sons at her side, following a brief illness. She was born July 17, 1934, in Van Buren, a daughter of the late Joseph and Beatrice (Levesque) Levasseur.
Simone worked with Van Buren schools as a baker for over 35 years and enjoyed working part-time with the local Tasty Food during the summer months. She was a parishioner of former St. Remi Church. She loved to bake and cook, especially during family visits. She was commonly seen walking around the Keegan neighborhood, always smiling and waving to her friends as they drove past.
She is survived by: three sons, Clarence J. Carrier and his wife, Gail Savage of Plainville, CT, Vernon J. Carrier and his wife, April of Waynesboro, PA, and Steven J. Carrier and his wife, Brenda of Cumberland, VA; one brother, Roger Levasseur and his wife, Gail of Manchester, CT; two sisters, Antoinette Madore of Lewiston and Germaine Caron and her husband, Nelson of Presque Isle; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Simone was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Lawrence Carrier Sr.; a son, Lawrence Carrier Jr.; and nine siblings.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 13, 2015, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. Relatives and friends may greet the family Thursday 6-8 PM and Friday morning 9-10:30 AM at Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. Spring interment will be in the parish cemetery.
