Shirley's Story

HODGDON AND LINNEUS - Shirley A. Eastman, 79, passed away January 16, 2015 After a long battle with cancer at her home with her daughters by her side.

Born on August 8th, 1935 in St. Albans, Maine to Horace and Elizabeth McDougal Wright.

Shirley was a waitress for many years at the Tea Room (Grammies), then in 1974 worked as a secretary for the Hodgdon Superintendents office for 16 years until her retirement in 1990.

Shirley loved to read and do crossword puzzles, jumble and watch her soaps. She loved to have her hair done every week by her special hairdresser and friend Debbie Cummings. She was a very devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved to have her great grandchildren visit and bring out the toy basket. She had many good friends at her home in Hodgdon including her long time neighbor Gladys Nason.

Shirley is survived by her three daughters Debbie Graham and her husband Dana of Houlton, Lisa Foster and her husband Wayne of Houlton and Lori Jacobs and her husband Elton also of Houlton.

Shirley had 6 grandchildren, Christopher Steeves & Shelby, Dana Michelle Graham, Kimberly Hanning & David, Kelly Silverthorn & Chris, Melissa Flewelling &Justin, Justin Jacobs & Sierra. Shirley had 15 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Shirley was predeceased by her parents, her husband Charles (Charlie) Eastman, sister Alice Flynn, brothers Gene and Ronnie Wright and her grandson Roland Mortimer(Mort). The family would like to thank Hospice for their great care and help.

It was Shirley's wishes not to have a funeral service. There will be a graveside service in the spring. Gifts may be made in Shirley's memory to hospice c/o Bowers Funeral Home 10 Water Street Houlton, 04730.
